Product Designer

The Challenge: You will work with marketing, product management, product development and customer users to design innovative, industry leading products. Using product requirements, you will drive the product design process from product/feature conceptualization through detailed user interface and functionality design, implementation and usability review. You will participate in all phases of the product development life cycle.
Responsibilities
- Be a member of a small team of Designers responsible for the design of a product or product release.
- Develop conceptual models, user flows, prototypes, detailed functional specifications and innovative interface designs for products in response to marketing requirements, user analyses, product innovation, technology, and business needs.
- Understand the business use of the application and the associated process flow in order to provide efficient user interface designs.
- Assist product management in authoring user requirements documents.
- Conceive, set, and implement user interface guidelines and standards, ensuring that these guidelines are followed during the development and maintenance of the product.
- Conduct or participate in product usability tests.
- Lead design review meetings.
- Complete project milestones in a timely manner.
Qualifications
- 3+ years experience in a commercial software product company.
- BA/BS or advanced degree preferred in Human Factors, Human-Computer Interaction, Industrial Design, Cognitive Psychology, or a related field or demonstrated comparable experience designing commercial software products.
- Demonstrated experience on Windows and web-based products.
- In depth knowledge of User Interface Design principles, Human Factors, User-Centered Design Processes, Interaction Design guidelines, Usability Methodologies, industry standards and trends, platform standards, software development process, and prototyping/design.
- Ability to work in a dynamic multidisciplinary team.
- Proven team player.
- Ability to translate audience, technology and other key product requirements into effective UI design solutions.
- Experience designing prototypes and writing design documents to effectively communicate functional behavior to stakeholders.
- Proficient using design tools such as Photoshop (or Paintshop Pro), HTML, XML, and CSS.
- Preferred experience with Visio and MS Visual Studio.
- Knowledge of web technologies such as application and web servers, .NET, etc.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects.
- Knowledge of international and accessibility design considerations.
- Innovative, creative problem solver with an eye for detail and accuracy.
